1st AIBA Youth World Championships

The 1st Youth world championships will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico between 25 October and 1 November 2008. The competitors should have been born in 1990 - 1991. The weight divisions are the 11 official divisions with 4 rounds of 2 minutes, and 1 minute rest between rounds.

2009 Junior World Championships

Thessaloniki, Greece and Yerevan, Armenia are the two candidate host cities for the 2009 world junior championships which will take place between 23-30 May 2009. The decision will be made during the Olympics Game on August 18.

The tickets for Beijing

With the completion 4 of the 10 qualification tournaments for the Beijing Olympic Games, 154 boxers from 50 countries have already been qualified. Russia and China have the largest number of qualified athletes (10), while Algeria, Tailand and Ukrane follow with 8 and England with Maroco have 7.

Up to the second day of the competition the English boxing team, which already at the Chicago world championships has already won 4 tickets for Beijing has been ahead in total score with 11 wins and no defeat.

1st & 2nd round Katsidis - Casamayor

Katsidis went down two times from two good blows by the Cuban during the first round. Watch the anti-athletic behaviour by Casamayor after the first blow. Not a suitable behaviour for an athlete of his standard.

8th & 9th round

Katsidis lost with TKO

The great Greek - Australian lost by TKO during the 10 round. A strong fight where both boxers exchanged strong punches, but the very experienced and former Cuban Olympic Champion, Casamayor, survived. That was the first defeat for Katsidis in 24 professional fights. The Greek was knocked out twice on the first round but managed to come especially during the 6th round. The fight was for the WBO interim lightweight and the lightweight belt of Ring magazine.
